ABOUT
Hatice Hashemi, MSW, RSW
Meet the Founder
Toronto Psychotherapy Services was founded by Hatice Hashemi, a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and Psychotherapist who was raised in Toronto. Hatice holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW) and a Master of Social Work degree (MSW) from York University. Hatice has over a decade of experience in the mental health field, having worked across various settings such as community organizations, government services, community health centres and private practice.
Through Toronto Psychotherapy Services, Hatice has created a practice that bridges clinical expertise with genuine human connection. Her work is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and a deep respect for the complexity of each person’s experience.
Hatice views therapy as more than addressing challenges, it is an opportunity to better understand the experiences, relationships, and patterns that shape how individuals relate to themselves and the world around them. Her approach recognizes the importance of each person’s identity, culture, and unique life experiences in the therapeutic process.
Hatice is trained in a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Practices, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Trauma-Informed Care. She applies these approaches based on each client’s needs, creating a safe and supportive environment to explore emotions, understand experiences and work toward meaningful progress.
Hatice works with youth, adults, families, and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and identity-related challenges. Her practice is grounded in cultural responsiveness and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience.
As an advocate for inclusive and accessible mental health care, Hatice founded Toronto Psychotherapy Services to offer exactly that—a place where people from all walks of life feel welcomed, respected and empowered to explore their experiences with compassion and clarity.
